I never knew my grandfather, but his name is very important to me. Most don't call me by it, but I share his name. A few years back I decided that every product we would put our name on would also bear his name. It serves as a checks and balances with our work. If I’m proud enough to put his name on it, you better believe that it’s a quality good. That decision has changed Dixie Reserve Co. so much and for all of the right reasons.
I had recently asked my mother if she had his signature on anything, because I had never seen it to my recollection. After looking for a few days she finally found a will written on notebook paper (very formal) that he had signed over 60 years ago. Just seeing his name and the way he had moved the pen to sign each letter said something about a man that I've never met but share so much with, including my namesake. After sending me a photo of the will she noticed something unbelievable; it was dated this very week from 1959...February 26, 1959. I felt so connected with him at that moment...like that very signature was meant to end up in my hands. I'm glad you had good penmanship. I hope the '59 will said it was okay to use your writing, because I can't wait to use your signature for branding in the future. Thanks for the gift, Dick.
