WELCOME SOUTH, BROTHER PRINT
1922, WSB-AM (Welcome South, Brother) opened its air waves at 833 kHz from Atlanta, Georgia as one of the South’s first open air radio stations. That same year, Fiddlin’ John Carson made his debut on WSB-AM and reached fame after recording what is considered the first country music song with vocals and lyrics. Soon after, stations like WSM-AM (Nashville, TN) would follow in the steps of WSB-AM’s program, Barn Dance, by creating the iconic radio show - The Grand Ole Opry. The roots of country music run through WELCOME SOUTH, BROTHER. We pay homage.
